Panshan Tourist Area, Jixian County

Situated twelve kilometers north of Jixian County in Tianjin and about ninety kilometers east of Beijing, Panshan Mountain is part of the Yanshan mountain range. It is five hundred meters above sea level on the average, but its main peak is about a thousand meters high. In history it was known as “the first mountain east of Beijing.” Among the noted scenic spots here are grotesque peaks and rocks, monasteries, and pagodas, pavilions and stone sculptures.
