Jinggang Mountains

The Jinggang Mountains lie in the middle section of the Luoxiao mountain chain in Ji'an County 130 kilometers south of Nanchang. Covering 714 square kilometers, the forested mountains, with their rolling peaks and winding streams and rivers, command a strategic position. They are not only a scenic tourist attraction, but a place that commemorates the Chinese revolution as well. Under the leadership of Mao Zedong, the first rural revolutionary base was established here in October 1927.

The surrounding peaks can be reached by highways from Ciping, a scenic, hilly town in the center of the Jinggang Mountains.
