The Grand Mosque

The Grand Mosque is located outside the northern gate of the old city of Hohhot. Construction of the mosque began during the reign of Emperor Qian Long (A.D. 1730-1795) of the Qing Dynasty, when large numbers of Hui people moved from Xinjiang to Hohhot. The mosque houses thirty copies of the Koran in Arabic.
