Ten Thousand Avatamsakasutras Pagoda (Wanbuhuayanjingta)

This pagoda is located west of Baita Village in the eastern suburb of Hohhot. It is an octagonal brick and wooden tower seven stories high, built during the reign of Emperor Sheng Zong (A.D. 983-1031) of the Liao Dynasty. The outer walls of the first and second stories are inlaid with fine brick carvings of Buddhas, heavenly kings and other legendary figures. The inner wall of the first storey is embellished with inscriptions left by visitors in Chinese, Qidan, Nüzhen, Mongolian, Ancient Syrian, and Persian.
