Beihai in south Guangxi is subtropical seaside city as well as a top tourist city where summer is long and winter warm, with an annual average temperature of 25.3 degrees Celsius. The air is fresh, and the environment very beautiful. The local Silver Beach is a national summer resort marked for its gentle waves, long beaches, white sand and safety from killer sharks. There are also the Weizhou Island, extolled as "Penglai Isle South China", mangrove forest at Shankou, a national marine nature reserve, the Star-Isle lake, where mountains are set off beautifully by rippling waves, and the Pearl City, now crumbling in ruins in a place called Bailong.

Aquatic Products Museum

Aquatic Products Museum is one of the largest aquatic product exhibition centers in China (the other such exhibition center can be found in Qingdao) and is situated in the northern part of the city. This museum has seven main exhibition halls and ponds. Six hundred and seventy species of halo bios from the Northern Bay and 2,800 items are displayed at this museum. Among the most imposing exhibit is a mermaid, a legendary sea creature that has a head and an upper body of a woman and its abdomen is a tail of a fish. Others exhibit which has attracted the attention of tourists visiting this museum is the skeletons of a 10,000-tons whales and a hundred years old turtle, which weights more than a hundred kilograms. An hour long visit to this museum is worth spending.

Beihai City

Lying in southern Guangxi, the city of Beihai presents a sub-tropical landscape. The Beihai Silvery Beach, a holiday resort, has white, fine, soft sand; clear sea water; and complete tourist ',, facilities. Weizhou Islet is called "the fabled abode of immortals in southern China." There are also a mangrove forest -- a State marine nature reserve, the beautiful Xingdao Lake, and Pearl Town in Bailong.

Beihai Park

Location of Beihai Park

Beihai Park or North Sea Park is located half kilometer to the west of the north gate of the Forbidden City. Beihai Park is one of the most popular parks in the city of Beijing. The whole park covers a total area of over 68 hectares, more than half of it is taken up by the Beihai Lake. It is used to be the former palace of the emperors in successive dynasties, called the Winter Palace by Westerners.

Manin Scenery

The main scenery of Beihai park is composed of :
Beihai lake, Jade Islet, Jinxinhai, Nine Dragon Screen, Round City, White Pagoda, Suhavatigarden, Yong'an Temple and many other interesting ones.

Present Beihai Park

Beihai Park is now one of the best of China's classical gardens with artificial hills, pavilions, halls, temples and covered corridors today. In summer, Beihai Park is an ideal place to escape from heat. The view in front of the magnificent White Dagoba on top of White Dagoba Hill is of the golden tiles and red walls of the Forbidden City and Jingshan Park with its five pavilions to the east and the graceful buildings of Tuancheng (the Round City) and the green waves of Zhongnanhai to the south. One can also have a panoramic view of the Great Hall of the People, the Museum of History and many high-rise buildings in Beijing. It is one of the most popular scenic spots in the capital.

Weizhou Island

Volcano Relic

Situated on the southwest of Weizhou Island, it is one of the most distinctive tourist attraction owing to the special crater, sea-eroded sight, tropic vegetable sight,biological and astronomical sight as well as its scientific value. Its main spots include the cliff sightseeing the Dragon Palace Exploration, the Flat Roof where one can enjoy the sound of billows, and the View of Beasts Amusing Themselves in the sea.

Dripping Screen

It’s a 10-meter-high cliff by the sea to the west of the Water Dripping Village which was caused by extrava-sation . It looks like a person’s head owing to years of efflorescence. It faces the surfy sea with stateliness. Its name came form the constant water dripping form the cliff. Tortoise Stone Sight Situated on the southwest of Weizhou Island, it’s a symmetry to the Volcanic Relic. This sight, where there is a connection between the beach and the bay, is featuring with island, caves, cliffs and sands. The View of Tortoise and Pig Arching the sea is one of the eight famous sight in Beihai. Other views, such as the Perilous cliff, the Blue Sea Arching the Moon and the Two Caves Reaching the Sky, are characteristic too.

The Northern Bay Seaside Park

Different form the southern seaside, the northern seaside mainly consists of the 2300-meter-long clean and flat beach and the calm sea. It’s a good place for the seaside and sea sports. Behind the beach are the large area of windbreak and coralline deposit cliff. It possesses a good green environment.

Undersea Coral

In the near sea of Weizhou Island grows lots of coral reef groups the Undersea Gardon because of its kinds of colorful lively coral. The coral in the west side of the island are the closest to the seaside and will appeal outside the surface of the sea when the tide is down. Fishes swim across them and we call them the Oasis in the Sea.

The Catholic Church

It began to be built in 1869 and was finished ten years later. It was built by coralline stone, soils, tiles and wood. It is a cathic building with an area of 774 square meters. It also includes a hospital, an abbey, a school and a foundling. It was the first church built by Paris Foreign Mission in Beihai.

Beihai Silver Beach

Beihai Silver Beach is one of China's ideal paradise sunshine beach holiday resorts, which lies on the coastlines lining the suburb south of the city. It covers an area of 80,000 squares meter with 24 kilometers of silver sandy beaches dotted with guesthouses, chalets, restaurants and entertainment outlets. With an all years round sunny weather, the water temperature rises to an average of 24 degrees C between the months of April to December. Water sports and beach games like wind surfing, yachting, motor boating, beach volleyball and football are some of the games and funs you'll get to enjoy with at this beach resort. At certain time of the year, ethnic cultural dance shows were held at this holiday resort. Each year thousands of fun and sun seeking tourist were attracted to Beihai Silver Beach.

Dongpo Pavilion

Dongpo Pavilion is located in Hepu Normal College, which was the former site of Qinglexuan (Pure Enjoy Studio) where Su Dongpo, a famous Song poet stayed and wrote his poems. The pavilion is a brick and wooden structure shelter within a traditional Chinese compound. "Su Dongpo" name can be seen inscribed on a wooden panel hanging on the lintel of this pavilion. Inside the pavilion, a portrait of Su was carved on the wall. Ten of his poems, which were elegantly in scripted, can be seen along side with the portrait. Other then inscriptions of Su's poems, inscriptions of a Buddhist dignitary from the Temple of the Six Banyan Trees (in Guangzhou) can also be seen inside the pavilion. East of the pavilion is Dongpo Well, which is said to be dug by Su Dongpo himself. The water is crystal clear, sweet and filled with freshness. A park was built nearby to beautify the area.
